The Orphan's Bridge Shoreline 5k is a fundraiser.  Funds raised at this event will be used

to support current Orphan's Bridge projects here in the front range of Colorado,

orphanages in Mexico, the Philippines and possibly in Haiti.

Runners are encouraged to find sponsors that donate in support

of their participation in the race.  As an incentive, prize awards will be given to the top fundraisers.

Here's how to gather sponsors

           1. Set a goal.  We suggest a starting goal of $200.

You need a minimum of $1,500 to be eligible for the grand prize

           2. Print the form and track your sponsors and set up a fundraising page on Running Guru when you register.

           3. Talk to people, write letters, email, use facebook and tell people about the race   and the sponsorship opportunity.

Tell people they can give you the donation or they can do it on Running Guru in your name.

4. Collect the money as you go.  Bring the completed form and the donations the day of the race.

The donations will be tabulated and added to the Running Guru accounts during the race.

Prizes will be awarded at the ceremony following the race.

Fundraising  rules

Participants will be competing for the prizes.  The person or group who raise the most donations

will get first pick from the prize board.  To be eligible for the grand prize, the Avalanche Suite,

you must raise a minimum of $1,500 in donations.  To be eligible for the 2nd grand prize,

the Mall of America trip, you must raise a minimum of $600 in donations.  Fundraising can be

done in groups.  Make sure all your online donations go in under one designated person's fundraising

page at Running Guru.  Your fundraising page can be set up when you register for the race at  the following

Running Guru web site.       http://www.runningguru.com/EventInformation.asp?eID=1716

Any cash or checks that you collect should be turned in the day of the race at the registration desk

before the race starts.  Make sure these are turned in with the same designated name attached.

The online donations will be added with the money you bring on race day.  Your totals will be

available at the awards ceremony after the race.  Firefighter Teams will have the team name as

the designated fundraiser.  Again, you can work in groups to raise funds. Five, ten, or even

twenty people can work together to raise funds to win the prizes.  Each designated name

will only get one prize and that prize will be shared by your group in whatever way you agree.

Fundraising Tips

A way that makes fundraising easier than you ever thought it could be.

1.    Ask acquaintances, co-workers for a gift of $10-$25. Ask friends and family for a gift of $25-$50.  Ask your company, your boss, or wealthy friends and family for $50-$100.  Ask your doctor, dentist, dry cleaner, any other business you visit frequently.

2.    Plan a fundraising party.  Have a cover charge or a suggested donation at the door.
